STANLEY 9-INCH MAGNETIC SHOCK RESISTANT TORPEDO LEVEL

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This 9 inch torpedo style level came with a free 16 foot tape measure that I wasn’t expecting. Both items are well made, with ABS construction for strength and durability. The very flexible steel tape has a polymer coating and good, clear printed numbers and markings. The first foot of the tape is marked in 32nds of an inch and the remainder of the tape in 16ths of an inch. Every foot is clearly marked and the 16 inch divisions are useful for stud work. When the lock is in place it holds the tape firmly but it is still possible to pull a bit more of the tape out when working on very fine measurements. Then there is the return spring … a very energetic spring that can be a bit of a liability unless you are aware of it. Watch the video with the tape measure “dancing” on the bench to see just how energetic it is. The nine inch torpedo level has three fixed bubbles positioned at zero, 45 and 90 degrees. The bubbles are easy to see in the pale yellow liquid. The bottom of the level has a strong magnetized rubber base that holds well on any steel or iron surface and the other side has a pipe groove along its length. The rubber end bumpers will help to protect this neat, lightweight level in case it is dropped.
